In the middle of BLANKBOOK you find me; Kajsa Bornedal.
I started the BLANKBOOK project in 2021 as a response to the shrinking space for reflection and imagination I experienced on an individual and collective level.
Notebooks have been an important and constant part of my life in various ways; structuring my days, reflective writing, documenting and developing ideas. I have become very specific with what kind of pens I prefer, on what paper and in what formats.
During my master program at Konstfack, University of Arts, Crafts and Design I had the opportunity to examine the physical book from several aspects and develop my book binding skills. At the same time the covid-pandemic induced me to build a book studio in my home. Besides the satisfaction to be able to create the books I desire, the process of making them is just as important as the end result.
It is my conviction that living in our complex and interdependent world requires time and space for deep-thinking and imagination. If BLANKBOOK becomes the space where you take the time to be, think and imagine – nothing would please me more.
