Designprocess
BLANKBOOK is developed and designed in consideration of making the most of the material and meet different functional needs such as portability and durability. Guiding principles are:
Making the most of what is at hand
That means that a minimum amount of material is used to fulfil the function but also that the amount of waste is minimised in the production process.
Form is Function, Function is Form
An observed need generates an idea of a new format that is imposed at the material at hand. BLANKBOOK spaces are developed and design in interdependency with the material at hand and the need for a specific function.a new way to cut the sheet or new wastepaper generates a new form and function
Construction is Ornament
Brutalism is a style with an emphasis on materials, textures and construction. In most books the spine is hidden by covering it with material and that effects the function. The function follows the form but the reverse is also true, form follows function.
